A bit of a Scare
So I had another post I was going to finish today, but it was a bit of a crazy day. Liam woke up at 4:30am last night crying saying his legs hurt and he couldn't walk. Liam can be a bit dramatic, so we didn't think too much of it. I figured maybe he was just sick and achy, so I gave him some Tylenol and put him back to bed. Then all day he was limping around crying that he couldn't walk. He kept pointing at his thigh and saying that's where it hurt. Jack's uncle looked at him who is a doctor and told us it seemed like his hip and we should get him looked at. That got me super worried, so we took him to the ER and he got some blood work and x-rays. It ended up just being transient synovitis, which is an inflammation of the hip usually caused by a virus. I never heard of it before, but it was a much better diagnosis then the other things going through my head. He was just told to rest for a couple days and take Motrin every six hours. I am hoping if he rests tomorrow he will feel better for Halloween. Hopefully if things slow down tomorrow I will finish my review and giveaway of Stinky Kids and the Runaway Scissors book, so stay tuned.

Jessica, so scary and thankful the diagnosis is something better than originally thought although it sounds painful! Hope he is better so soon!! Michelle
ReplyDeleteAh I'd have hit the panic button big time.. Good to hear it's nothing serious and hopefully he recovers soon!
ReplyDeleteWow, never heard of that. Sounds awfully painful. Is he doing any better this morning?
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that either. I hope he's doing alright now. This past Friday I had to take my little one to the Hospital because I thought he might've fractured or sprang his foot while playing with my sister. It's a scary thing to have to take a baby to the hospital. Good luck with him, hopefully he can go trick or treating tomorrow.
ReplyDeletepoor guy! So glad to hear that it isn't anything serious! hugs mama!!

So glad it wasn't anything more serious. One time, when my kiddo was around 12, I was cooking dinner and he was standing there talking to me one second and the next was on the floor screaming bloody murder and grabbing his side. I thought for sure it was an appendix or something along those lines. Straight to the hospital we went. We were there all night while the doctors did test after test after test (this was also when we discovered his claustrophobia - while he was inside the MRI/CAT scan machine). After over 15 hours of wondering and of the nurses and doctors telling me they thought it could possibly be Crohn's Disease which would have been just terrible, it turned out it was just gas caught in his intestinal tract. GAS! That gas cost us $3000....thanks to the stupid high deductible health plan my work so graciously provided.
ReplyDeleteSo when people complain about the raise in gas prices....I find myself reminded of that episode. Yeah...they just don't know how bad it can get.
Now following!!!
