Keeping Busy: Colored Rice

     So I always see lots of great ideas on other blogs or pinterest, but most of the time I never get around to doing them myself. I have seen colored rice a few times and have always been meaning to make it, and I finally did.

     It was super easy put some rice in a Ziploc bag and just add some food coloring and rubbing alcohol (i didn't measure but you don't need much) and shake. Then lay out to dry and you are done.I used about 5 bags of rice. I decided to go with a ocean theme. The boys loved it if your kids like sand they will love this. I was hoping to be able to do this activity inside laying the bin on a blanket, but my youngest is a wild man and kept throwing rice everywhere so it had to be done outdoors. If your kids are older though I would say inside is fine just keep a blanket under to control the mess. When they get tired of sea creatures I just plan on changing them out. A pretty fun activity for under $10!
