Mommy needs more sleep

I love to sleep and have always loved to take naps when possible. Now it seems I never get a nap. it is a rare occasion that all of my kids are sleeping at the same time during the day, so I miss naps now more then ever. I didn't realize how nice it was when I just had one kid to be able to nap when he did, I should have taken advantage of that more often.
I know what I really need to do is start going to bed earlier. I always plan to, but it never works out every night it's around 1am by the time I go to bed. I know it's my own fault, after getting the kids to bed and straightening out the house or exercising some nights if I can't fit it in during the day I want some time to relax. So I'll look at blogs or watch TV. Then my husband gets home a little before 11pm, so I'll hang out with him for an hour then head to bed, but there is always something I forget to do so I come back down to turn on the dishwasher or put clothes in the dryer. Then I'll read for a bit and usually remember something else I need to do and before you know it it's 1am. Rory has been for the most part sleeping through the night, but he's up around 6am and for some reason Declan has randomly been waking up at night now. So usually my sleep is always interrupted too. I know so many moms probably have this same problem.
Plus I've always been a night owl and hated mornings, even as a kid my mom started my in school in the afternoons since I normally wouldn't wake up till 10am. She likes to think maybe it was because she worked midnights when she was pregnant with me, but who knows. I've decided to try at least once a week to be in bed by 10pm, which really means 11pm but then I'd be getting at least 7 hours of sleep one night a week. So we'll see if my plan works because I noticed I am a little irritable if I don't get enough sleep and I'm hoping this will help.

  1. I think I could have written the same post! Both my kids are now up multiple times a night. Not really sure what is going on but I am tired!! I am also very irritable without sleep!

  2. I have to agree with you - I love naps!! Fortunately my kids are grown now and I can take as many naps as I want. Unless the grandkids are over of course. After they leave I seem to need a lot more sleep than I used to after having kids all day! LOL- thanks for sharing -I am out blog hopping today. I have been a follower of yours for a while now, & wanted to say HI

  5. I'm right with you on this one. It's so hard to go to bed early, especially since our kids aren't usually down for the night until at least 9:30... sometimes 10:00 (they will be in bed earlier but won't fall asleep until then... who knows why!) So the time afterwards is our relaxation time... but then of course we don't get sleep! LOL

Well, I'll be able to sleep again someday. At least that's what I keep telling myself! LOL

I'm stopping by from the Welcome Wednesday hop! I'm already a follower, so I'm sharing some comment love! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  6. I don't really remember what it was like getting enough sleep. I wonder if I will ever know that feeling again? I have a one year old so it's probably a long ways away. :)

  7. New follower from Wednesday Bloghop. I like you am a night owl. I may go to bed at 1am some nights only to get up at 5:30am for work. My children are all grown now so I'm an empty nester. But I find if I nap then I can't sleep at night. Some nights I'll crash at 10pm and catch up.

Hubby keeps promising me a "staycation" where I can check into a hotel here in town for a night and just sleep lol Anyways, cute blog, drop on by and see me if you get the chance, thanks!
